Flower display by students of Hokuryo High School (December)
Since 2001, Aso Kumamoto Airport has been exhibiting seasonal floral arrangements grown by students from agricultural-related schools in the prefecture.
When you use the airport, why not take a look down at your feet and enjoy the artwork created by high school students from Kumamoto?
The December exhibit features pansies by students from Kumamoto Prefectural Kitaryo High School.

Sowing seeds

[Comments from Hokuryo High School students]
We, the first year students of the landscape gardening department at Hokuriku High School, have been carefully cultivating them from sowing the seeds to delivering them to the airport. Pansies bloom beautifully even in the cold winter, and the flower language of yellow pansies means "modest happiness."
I hope that those who visit Kumamoto will feel a little more comforted and warm when they see these pansies. Also, Hokuryo High School, where we study, is located in Tamana City, in the north of Kumamoto Prefecture. Tamana is a place that became popular through the TV drama "Idaten." There are many tourist spots such as gourmet food and hot springs, and it is full of charm. Please come and visit us.
