Flower display by students of Ashikita High School (March)
Since 2001, Aso Kumamoto Airport has been exhibiting seasonal floral arrangements grown by students from agricultural-related schools in the prefecture.
When you use the airport, why not take a look down at your feet and enjoy the artwork created by high school students from Kumamoto?
March's feature is a work (Gazania) by students from Kumamoto Prefectural Ashikita High School.

[Comments from Ashikita High School students]
Due to the heavy rains in July 2020, the farm where we usually do our practical training was flooded with nearly 2 meters of water. The farm, which was once full of greenery, was stained brown with soil and sand, and at one point most of our practical training consisted of carrying out the soil and sand. It was a difficult time, but thanks to the support and cooperation of many people, we have been able to study hard every day. Thank you very much.
The Gazania flowers were selected and grown with gratitude for the revitalization of Ashikita Town. We hope that seeing the flowers will lift people's spirits, even if only a little.

Watering before planting in the planter (11/1)

We practiced pruning flowers that had bloomed many times.
