Our ESG Management Initiatives
~Achieving SDGs and carbon neutrality through ESG management~

 Kumamoto International Airport Co., Ltd. (Head office: Mashiki-machi, Kamimashiki-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture, CEO: Shohei Niihara) has decided to adopt the SDGs (*We are pleased to announce that we have identified key issues and initiatives to address them in achieving carbon neutrality.

* Sustainable Development Goals
("Sustainable Development Goals": 2015 goals and 9 targets to be achieved by 2030, adopted at the United Nations Sustainable Development Summit in September 17.)

1. Our key issues and initiatives toward the SDGs

 Kumamoto is currently in the process of recovering from the 2016 Kumamoto earthquake and the 2020 torrential rain disaster. New risks are also emerging due to the spread of COVID-XNUMX. In light of this, and given our characteristics and responsibilities as a company that provides transportation infrastructure for the region at Kumamoto Airport, and through repeated dialogue with local people, we believe it is important for us to promote the region's attractions and contribute to the revitalization and recovery of the local economy.
 With this in mind, we have set four key issues - "Realizing safe and secure airport operations," "Contributing to the creative recovery of the local community," "Respect for the environment," and "Creating an environment in which all employees can thrive and grow" - and have formulated initiatives to address these issues.

 Going forward, we will develop an action plan and monitoring system through to 2030 that are necessary to promote our initiatives, and will achieve our mission of "contributing to the expansion of air travel demand and regional revitalization through sustainable airport operations, thereby contributing to the realization of a happy society."
 We would also like to announce that on January 2022, 1, we were registered as a "Kumamoto Prefecture SDGs Registered Business (26nd Period)" as a company that is actively working toward the SDGs.

2050. Initiatives toward achieving carbon neutrality by XNUMX

 Of the four priority issues, "Achieving carbon neutrality by 1" is one of the specific initiatives related to "environmental consideration," and for this issue, we have now formulated medium- to long-term reduction targets and a roadmap.
 As efforts toward decarbonization in the airport sector accelerate, we will strive to further improve our corporate value through concrete efforts toward carbon neutrality and contribute to the realization of a sustainable society.

[Medium- to long-term reduction targets]

 We aim to reduce CO2 emissions from airport facilities and airport vehicles by 2013% by fiscal 2030 compared to fiscal 50, and to achieve net zero by fiscal 2050.

[Roadmap to achieve the goal]

 To achieve our targets, we will position "introduction of renewable energy" and "reducing CO2 emissions from airport facilities and vehicles" as the pillars of our efforts, and will promote the following initiatives while complying with relevant laws and regulations and coordinating with airport stakeholders.
