Flower exhibition by Yabe High School students (July 2022)
Since 2001, Aso Kumamoto Airport has been exhibiting seasonal floral arrangements grown by students from agricultural-related schools in the prefecture.
When you use the airport, why not take a look down at your feet and enjoy the artwork created by high school students from Kumamoto?
The July exhibit features works (marigolds, celosia, and gazania) by students from Kumamoto Prefectural Yabe High School.
[Comments from Yabe High School students]
Yabe High School is located in Yamato Town, Kamimashiki District, Kumamoto Prefecture. Yamato Town is located almost in the center of Kyushu, and is rich in nature and has beautiful scenic spots such as Soyo Gorge, Ryokusen Gorge, and Uchidaijin Gorge.
Yabe High School has three departments: Food and Agriculture Science, Forestry Science, and General Science.
In the Department of Food and Agriculture Science, we learn about flowers, vegetables, and food throughout the year. The marigolds, azanias, and gazanias on display this time have been lovingly cultivated by students majoring in floriculture, starting from sowing the seeds. There were many challenges and difficulties along the way, but we have worked hard every day, hoping that many people will see the flowers we have grown and experience the charm of flowers. We would be delighted if people visiting Kumamoto could see the flowers we have grown in Yamato Town, a town rich in nature, and be able to convey at least a little of the charm of flowers.
