"Introduction of solar power generation facilities under the PPA model"
P1 Parking Lot Construction Starts for Carport-Type Solar Power Generation Facility

Kumamoto International Airport Co., Ltd. (Headquarters: Mashiki-machi, Kamimashiki-gun, Kumamoto Prefecture; President and CEO: Shohei Niihara; hereinafter referred to as "the Company"), Kyushu Electric Power Co., Inc., and Mitsui Fudosan Co., Ltd. have been preparing for the installation and operation of a carport-type solar power generation facility based on a PPA contract (power purchase agreement) (announced on May 2022, 5). We are pleased to announce that preparations for construction work have now been completed and construction will begin on Tuesday, April 24, 2023.

We have formulated a roadmap to reduce carbon dioxide (CO2030) emissions from airport facilities and airport vehicles by 50% (compared to fiscal 2013 levels) by fiscal 2050, and to achieve net-zero emissions by fiscal XNUMX, and this initiative is part of that effort.
In addition, the carport-style structure will provide heat insulation in the summer and protection from the rain when it rains, and will also improve convenience for customers using the parking lot, so we will proceed with construction as soon as possible.

[Request to passengers using the airport by car]
We apologize for any inconvenience caused to customers using airport parking lots during the construction period. As the number of cars that can be parked in P1 parking lot will be reduced, we will endeavor to take measures such as increasing the number of cars that can be parked in P2 and P3 parking lots and suspending construction during busy periods. However, congestion is expected, especially on weekends and holidays, so please allow yourself plenty of time when coming to the airport. We also ask that you actively consider using public transportation.
