Every year, various events are held at airports across the country, including here at Aso Kumamoto Airport. We hold a variety of events every year.

It has been decided that the event will be held again this year at Aso Kumamoto Airport on Saturday, September 9th. You can see the back of the airport, which you can't normally see, take aviation classes, and buy various goods. We look forward to welcoming you to the event, which will be packed with exciting events.

Event details (pre-registration event)

1. Early morning runway walk~Let's walk the runway!~

You will be able to greet dawn on the runway as you walk along the runway of Aso Kumamoto Airport, which is normally off-limits to the public.

Time 5:40-6:40 (Registration begins at 5:20)
Eligible persons 5th grade and above (maximum 50 students)
*Minors must be accompanied by a guardian as it is early in the morning.
Entry fee Free

Winners will be contacted by email by Friday, September 9th.
Points to note ①If there are a large number of applicants, we will hold a lottery.
②Participants must bring identification (driver's license, student ID, etc.) on the day of the event.
③On the day of the event, event participants will only be allowed to bring cameras (including smartphones) and mobile phones.
 Please note that as part of aviation security measures, metal detectors will be used upon entry.

2. Airport Restricted Area Bus Tour~Let's go see inside the airport, which is usually off-limits~

We will take you on a bus tour of Aso Kumamoto Airport, which is normally off-limits to the public. You will be able to see aircraft departing and arriving up close.

Time 9:30, 10:30, 13:30, 14:30 (takes approximately 2 hours)
Eligible persons Students from elementary school to high school and their guardians (25 people per session x 4 sessions = maximum capacity 100 people)

3. Hot Air Balloon Experience & Air Sports Classes

This early morning hot air balloon ride will take place at Aso Kumamoto Airport. Enjoy the view from approximately 10 meters above the ground.
After the hot air balloon ride, we will also hold an airplane class where you can have fun flying a rubber-powered model airplane.

Time 6:00-8:00 (Registration begins at 5:30)
Eligible persons 5th grade and above (maximum 100 students)
*Minors must be accompanied by a guardian as it is early in the morning.

4. Control Tower Tour

We will be holding a tour of the control tower that regulates air traffic at Aso Kumamoto Airport. Why not experience what it's like to be an air traffic controller?

Time 9:30am~ (reception begins at 9am), 14:30pm~ (reception begins at 14pm)
Eligible persons Students from 1st year of junior high school to 3rd year of high school (1 students per session x 6 sessions = 8 students maximum [maximum of 48 students per group])
*The control tower tour is for students only. (One parent/guardian may accompany each student.)

②When entering and exiting the control tower, you will need to go up and down one flight of stairs, so please refrain from entering if you have mobility issues.
③Photography and video recording are not permitted during the tour.

1. Kumamon Event (Sky Day ver.)

The Kumamon event, which is held regularly every Saturday, was expanded and offered as a "Sky Day Special Event" at the time.

2. Airline Events

There will also be sales of aviation goods from airlines that fly into Aso Kumamoto Airport, as well as photo sessions with pilots and flight attendants in their uniforms.

3. Airport Junk City

We sell rare junk items such as aviation lighting parts and guide signs that were used for many years at Kumamoto Airport.

4. JAL Origami Airplane Class

An origami airplane class was held by JAL employees.

5. Solaseed Air Aviation School

An aviation class was held by Solaseed Air employees.

6. ANA "Enjoy working in the sky!
~Marshalling experience & farewell tour~"

You will experience the work of a marshal and seeing off passengers as they depart.

Eligible persons 5 groups (approximately 10 people) Elementary school students and above and their parents

②This is an indoor event. The event may be canceled or the contents may be changed depending on the flight schedule and weather conditions on the day.
③This event is hosted by ANA Kumamoto Airport. Inquiries cannot be made to Kumamoto International Airport Co., Ltd. (airport management company).
④ Applications will be accepted via Google Form. A Google account is required to apply.

7. Local specialty product sales and other events

At Sorayoka Park on the east side of the passenger terminal, local towns and villages around the airport will be selling local specialties, and there will also be government events (such as detection dog demonstrations by Customs and Animal Quarantine Service).
In addition, there will be a Sojo University flight simulator experience at the Sorayoka Visitor Center.
